Reflection on slide from lecture

This slide appealed to me as the shapes are similar to those found in the studio I designed for Darwin with the rectangular prisms joined by a framelike structure. I find the concept of physical structure with abstract structure intriguing ... ie the relationship of that which is tangible and with the space around it. Both physical and abstract structure rely on each other for their existance. It is interesting in the picture how the solid geometry is emphasised through the linear geometry which are in contrast to each other but work towards highlighting the form of the other. This is a direct connection to electroliquid aggregation and extends itself to shadows, without which solid form tends to float in space without depth or meaning. In science, magnets attract each other through opposite forces. The chinese talk of yin and yang. In contemplating our environment, we need to consider that which makes something have it's being ... without ugliness there is no beauty.
