Villa Wolkonsky, Rome



Yesterday's lecture brought me some memories which made me smile... The Villa Wolkonsky was my family home for 5 years. It was built over an ancient aqueduct and so the walls where the aqueduct ran through were very thick. From the dining hall there was a door which opened directly on to the aqueduct which used to cause us much amusement as it looked as if the door led to another room but instead it landed you in a rather precarious position atop this aqueduct! Visitors might ask, "Where is the bathroom?" ...
