Buildings with Balls

I have a wonderful book "History of Architecture: From Classic to Contemporary", ed Rolf Toman, and I found these two buildings in it:

Shanghai Skyline:

Brussels, Atomium, Andre Waterkeyn, 1958:

China is producing some phenomenal buildings. This is a proposal for the World Expo in Shanghai, 2010 - 'The People's Building'. The Chinese word 'ren' meaning 'people' being the shape the building makes.
